Topical Conference, UAE
The SPWLA 2009 Abu Dhabi Topical Conference will be a forum for discussing Carbonate reservoir monitoring. Changes in reservoir fluid properties and saturation, pressure and temperature are detected by a variety of techniques and can be related to fluid flow, sweep efficiency and bypassed oil. Focus will be on advanced surveillance logs, but we will investigate the entire range of monitoring workflows from core floods to time-lapse log evaluation and observation well design, cross well seismic and Deep EM technologies. The objective is to showcase the use of reservoir surveillance data to update the reservoir model and revise production strategy to maximize recovery and reduce operating costs during the entire productive life of a field.
The final Agenda will vary with submissions received, but topics will include:
· Critical issues in Carbonate core flooding experiments (Coring and core preparation, wettability, new approaches and recommended procedures)
· Reservoir and fluid characterization in log interpretation (lithology, density, salinity, hydrogen index, chemical and nuclear properties)
· Near well bore monitoring (Pulsed Neutron Capture and CO, temperature and thru casing resistivity logs for Water flooding, Gas-injection, WAG and steam)
· Best Practices in Observation / Monitoring well design.
· Cross well volume imaging (4D VSPs, 4D seismic, Deep EMI, gravimetry)
· Permanent down hole sensors (Pressure, temperature, fibreoptics, resistivity arrays and geophones)
· Uncertainty analysis and Upscaling issues (incl. integration of dynamic petrophysical data in reservoir models, normalization & variograms)
· Monitoring data for Production History Matching and Reservoir Simulation.
· Surveillance Strategies and Production Management.

WHO WILL BE THERE: Petrophysicists, Reservoir Engineers and other Geoscientists working on core analysis, monitoring logging and surveillance strategy, Carbonate Petrophysics, reservoir modeling and production management.
DISCUSSION GROUPS: Small breakout groups will further discuss the topics presented in the morning and then report back in a plenary session.
COMMERCIALISM is NOT encouraged in speaker presentations in line with the SPWLA mission and conference objectives. Company logos shall be limited to the title slide to indicate affiliations of presenter and others involved in the work.
