Distance to Boundary Technology; Strengths and Lessons Learned

Optimizing well placement and minimizing risk in horizontal wellbores depend on the Geosteering technology in order to stay within a pre-defined geological target and maximize the reservoir contact “MRC” as well as production. In the last few years, the well placement challenges have increased dramatically leading to innovative solutions to overcome these challenges such as distance to boundary technology which allows to place wells in the best reservoir zones even with limited vertical thickness,  dipping, or poor seismic definition.

This presentation will cover the physics of current “Distance to Boundary” technology of different service providers. Moreover, each company will present a successful case study as well as the lessons learned from unsuccessful job and suggests the best practice for implementing such fabulous technology.
