Welcome to the 56th Annual SPWLA Symposium!
Welcome to Long Beach! The Bakersfield chapter of the SPWLA is excited to present the 56th SPWLA International Technical Symposium for the first time in California. A beautiful, modern and historic city, Long Beach is an ideal location for this meeting, with easily-accessible attractions including the historic Queen Mary, the Long Beach Aquarium, and several art museums. July is an excellent time to visit Southern California, with low humidity, cool Pacific breezes and an average high temperature of only 83 degrees. At this venue, hotels, restaurants and the convention center are all within easy walking distance so car rental is totally optional. The opportunity to visit world-renowned beaches and theme parks, entertainment venues, and wine country will encourage many attendees to extend their stay.
This premier formation evaluation event of 2015 will take place from July 18th to 22nd, at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center. The meeting will bring together petrophysicists from around the globe to share experiences, discuss the latest technology, build new friendships, and renew old ones.
The symposium commences on Saturday, July 18 with a field trip to world-class outcrops of conventional and unconventional reservoirs that will enable attendees to directly experience California’s fascinating geology and beautiful coastline. In addition to the field trip, workshops on Saturday and Sunday provide the opportunity to hone skills and engage with experts and peers on a wide variety of topics including heavy oil petrophysics, reservoir surveillance, geostatistics, forward-modeling of formation parameters, ancient logs, and seismic modeling.
